Random Happenings

It has felt like a long winter. And without the snow to entertain us, we've had to get creative.

Hence, Carrot Man.

We are pretty proficient at making out own indoor fun, but we spent an afternoon sitting on the driveway watching this guy. We see them all around our neighborhood, but they usually steer clear of our yards until after dark, so this was a treat.

The kids have enjoyed a much more engaging teacher this year for their Friday U.S. History classes at the Embassy. (They're pretty much experts on Aboriginals and can sing the Australian national anthem backwards, but American history? Not so much.) Here they are puzzling the 50 States into a larger than life floor map.

A boy and his boxes... that's really all they need, right?
The following is a pretty good representation of my daily life lately:

Ahh, the sibling love... it about melted my heart to watch these girls jump in with consolation and cuddles when Summer was freaking out at the doctor's.

But alas, so much "sibling love" morphs into "tough love" resulting in black eyes and the like.
Busking Practice

And while I'll sorta miss these chilly rugby practice sunsets, we are pretty stoked to see the flowers popping up everywhere these days.

A Day at the Beach

Ahh, the beach. Took a quick day trip with friends over the break to breathe in some coastal air.

Couldn't leave without stopping by our favorite, "Pebbly Beach" where we were greeted by a variety of friendly parrots.

Summer scrunched down in distress whenever they landed on her head, but the kids could've stayed in the parking lot another hour I'm sure.

Down the path there opens up this beautiful stretch of shoreline where mild-mannered, wild kangaroos live beach-side.

(Being there sorta makes me feel like any minute I'm going to see giant Teletubbies peek out and dance around those green rolling hills. So idyllic.)

(Gotta love taking pics of cute Sum-Sum in her oversized "emergency" outfit. She got carsick on the winding mountain roads to the coast...)

See the joeys peeking out of some of these pouches??

This had to be an old grandpa roo. Big, bony and real slow.
Of course the boys were too busy sword fighting in the waves to be distracted by the wildlife. :)
