The Bluest Blue

I keep being impressed... Australia's sky is so unique. It holds the most brilliant hues of blue. I tried to capture it on our walk the other day (note, these are simple iphone camera shots):

What We've Been Up To

Building bridges...                                   and crossing bridges...

 Drivin' the car...

Building our muscles with feats of strength...

 Four wheeling to waterfall forests...

 Running ourselves ragged...
 Growing teeth... and losing teeth...

Walking, swinging & hanging around...

Making forts and finding new friends...

Pondering the Cosmos...

Autumn

Always a delightful time of year.

Lots of gorgeous walks through the crisp air.
Crunchy, golden leaves underfoot.
A bunch of footy games.
Frosty morning chill.
Cozy sweaters.
Hot cocoa.

Jury's out which is rougher; rugby or AFL - both boast huge, beefy specimens of grown men trying to kill each other (without pads.) It's some seriously brutal action and both are quite exciting.

Clever Kids

So we all think our kids are geniuses, right? Indulge me while I do a post for the memories...

She walks at 9 months! SEVEN STEPS last night! And my goodness, were we the ultimate fan club. So much cheering and excitement, in fact, that she got entirely caught up in the waving and clapping and laughter to be too distracted to repeat it on camera. :) Sometimes we think Summer was sent to us fourth so the olders could be here to enjoy such perfection with us. We all just absolutely drink this girl up. Every cute thing she does brings a new round of squishing and squashing and squeezing and kisses - poor thing gets mauled every day.

Kenna's Great Clock Cover-up. I noticed she was behaving suspiciously one evening but thought nothing of it until I glanced over to check how close til bedtime. "Uh, that's weird..." Then upon examining my watch, I couldn't help smiling as I played along, letting 'em stay up a bit.

When asked what he would take onto a deserted island recently, Will chose this bad boy. It's officially the world's worst, cheapest, most pathetic skateboard. But he loves it. I got D a rip stick for his birthday (weird, I know) and knew Will would need something to accompany him, since our bikes are MIA. The two of them were quite a pair to watch, I'll tell you what.

Pretend School. This is the after-school activity of choice around here. Don't ask me why. What does every kid want to do after 7 hours of school? More school, of course. They set up the living room and drag me in to be the "mean teacher" that demands spelling lists and reading and reports and tests. I mock, but it has actually been a fantastic way to get homework done without a fight.

The final school work of the day usually ends up being a Cooking Lesson in the Canteen. Bless that Master Chef. We've been watching it as a family and the kids are surprisingly emotionally involved with the contestants. And really picking up an appreciation for the culinary arts. It all started when they woke me up once with a bowlful of salad under my nose, demanding I eat it RIGHT THEN. (Such excitement at new-found independence beats a Sunday nap anyday, right?) They've got a running list now of all the things they can make without help and take great pride in the nights they can pull of dinner without my touching anything. To be sure there is much directing and supervision going on, and it certainly ain't pretty, but yeah, those little guys can actually put out a good meal when they put their minds to it.

So there you have it. Proof they're all geniuses.
