Gave Me A Vegemite Sandwich

It's no cliche.

When an Australian child forgets their lunch or lacks the funds, he'll be provided with a vegemite sandwich. Man, that stuff. Main ingredient: concentrated yeast extract. What is that even? Mmmm.

Each class gets a "fruit break" every morning and they encourage vegetables for snack at "afternoon tea."
Great system to keep little minds on track.

Wrap it up at home with Mom's fresh kangaroo roast and these kids are getting a well balanced diet!

  2. There was supposed to be a shudder in that comment (right after vegemite--shudder again).

  3. I STILL haven't tried roo yet! I'm not usually shy about trying new foods, but those animals are just so cute, it won't be easy!

  4. Kathleen, full agreement. I was trying to find an equivalent to how Australian children love vegemite sandwiches and McKenna's friend's mom said at a playdate that she would never try a pb&j - it sounds awful to her. Go figure! Sara, you can do it! And just think, you're helping the environment (or so the package says.)
